Feeling The Prick: Vaccinations For Travel To South America

I admit, I am petrified of needles. In fact, I still get highly emotional (cry) when I am within ten feet of needles. So when it came to getting the mandatory Yellow Fever vaccination (side note: Australian passport holders require a Visa to enter Brazil), I gotta tell you I was a mess! I must’ve asked my GP a million questions & was literally running for the exit. And that was only one prick. I also had to update my Typhoid and Hepatitis A vaccinations. That was prick number two. My GP also discussed vaccinations against Tetanus, Rabies, Meningococcal & Malaria. Not only are vaccines expensive, but the thought of having more needles gets my stomach in knots. But then again, you can’t put a price on life. I did some digging via travel forums, blogs, the World Health Organisation (WHO) website & various Australian government/health websites to get a (balanced) idea on the topic.
